Rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding found not guilty of rape

Irish rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding have both been found not guilty of raping a woman.

The trial has been taking place at the Belfast Crown Court over several weeks.

Paddy Jackson, 26, and his teammate Stuart Olding, 25, were both accused of raping the same woman after a night out in June 2016.

After the jury deliberated for 3 hours and 45 minutes today, both Paddy and Stuart have been found not guilty.

According to Newstalk’s Court Correspondent Frank Greaney, who has been live tweeting throughout the trial, Paddy was found not guilty of rape or sexual assault.

Stuart has been found not guilty of oral rape.

Two other men, who were also on trial on charges connected to the incident, have been found not guilty.

Blane McIlroy, 26, has been found not guilty of exposure, while Rory Harrison, 25, has been found not guilty for perverting the course of justice and withholding information.

All four defendants have been acquitted.
