RTE star Diana Bunici has revealed that she is set to quit kids TV – in order to try and break America.

The Elev8 presenter, 25, has been on the RTE2 show for five years but is ready to follow in former colleague Katie Van Burren’s steps and work in the US.

“I’m excited to close the door I guess on kids TV and push open another one,” she said.

“I’m interested in documentaries so I’d love to pursue that further. I am talking to independent production companies pitching ideas. I’ve got tonnes of ideas.

“It’s an exciting time but a little bit scary because everything that is familiar will be gone. I’m thinking of New York so possibly we’ll see.”

However, the Moldova born beauty has been extremely busy finishing her first upcoming novel which is a semi-autobiographical book.

“I started writing this book about two years ago. It’s a little bit I guess conceded of me since it’s semi autobiographical,” she told Ryan Tubridy on 2FM.

“It’s about a little girl from Moldova, in eastern Europe, coming to Ireland and the experiences that she goes through so it’s telling the story of immigration – I think a lot of children will be able relate to it.

“We live in such a multi-cultural society and every child will have friends from other countries but I think it will be nice and I’m sure there are other books similar to mine.”

“It will be nice to get the perspective of a child whose moved here and what they’re going through what they’re thinking and what they’re feeling. I was that kid.”

“I was that kid, I was eight years old and I moved to Ireland. I had no English I was just completely lost left in school the first day with no way of being able to communicate.”

“It’s almost finished. I was very close to finishing it about a year and a half ago – got really busy with life and I’ve only started back up in the last month or so.”
