RTÉ Radio 1 listeners left ‘crying laughing’ after hearing Sean O’Rourke say ‘fanny flutters’ live on air

The broadcaster was discussing Love Island

RTÉ Radio 1 listeners were “crying laughing” this morning, after hearing Sean O’Rourke say “fanny flutters” live on air.

The broadcaster was discussing the popularity of ITV’s Love Island, when he brought up the fact that Irish contestant Maura Higgins uttered the phrase when she entered the villa.

After hearing Sean say “fanny flutters”, listeners took to Twitter to express their shock.

Anne Whitmore tweeted: “Just heard Sean O’Rourke say ‘fanny flutters’ on @TodaySOR and that’s me done for the day now.”

Oonagh Ryan said: “I’ve had to lie in a darkened room, as I never thought I would hear the words “fanny flutters” escaping from Sean’s mouth. Crying laughing.”

Colette Keane tweeted: “I don’t think I will ever get over Sean O’Rourke @TodaySOR saying ‘fanny flutters’ live on radio. #LoveIsland and Maura have a lot to answer for.”

Poking fun at the incident, RTÉ Radio 1 shared a clip of Sean saying the phrase, and edited it to include a video of Maura saying “what did you just say to them”.

Love Island is back on our screens tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
