RTÉ producer reveals ‘catastrophic’ reason station went down during last night’s Dancing with the Stars

RTÉ producer, Larry Bass, has revealed the “catastrophic” reason the station went down during last night’s Dancing with the Stars.

Fans were left on the edge of their seats after the final dancer, Johnny Ward, performed and the programme went off-air just seconds before his scores were revealed.

While hundreds of viewers took to social media in confusion, Larry has revealed the panic behind-the-scenes as RTÉ had a power-cut during the show.

“We had a catastrophic power cut. These things happen and there is nothing you an do. Thankfully we had a team of electricians on site to help us get back up and running. It is something you can’t legislate,” he told the Irish Daily Mail.

“Thankfully, it happened after all 11 dancers had finished and it proved it is live television and these are the pitfalls of live TV. We were able to get it back online and get the show finished.”

Shortly after the power came back, the first elimination in the series resulted in Mrs. Brown’s Boys star, Eilish O’Carroll being voted off the show.

The actress exclusively told Goss.ie that she would be back to support the rest of the stars throughout the series and added that she is “more disappointed for Ryan.”
