Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh 'enjoying' idea of landing celebrity boyfriend after win

Newly-crowned Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh has admitted she likes the idea of landing a celebrity boyfriend.

The Philadelphia Rose took the win after becoming a late favourite with her impressive on-stage performance.

Now bookmakers Paddy Power have started odds on who will become her boyfriend after it emerged she was single.

Rose of Tralee backstage presenter Aidan Power is the 8/1 favourite, followed by Mayo footballer Aidan O’Shea and The Coronas singer Danny O’Reilly.

And the 27-year-old, who grew up in Mayo, admitted she is “enjoying” the idea of the famous fellas offered up.

She added: “That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard! We’ll have to see what happens. I’m young, free and single and I’m just enjoying the bookies’ ideas.”

Previous romances out of the annual festival has seen Ryan Tubridy meet his now girlfriend Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain and Daithi O’Se also found his wife Rita Talty.

And Maria – who visibly shook when Daithi O’Se announced her name – admitted she’s still getting used to the new role.

“It’s been hectic but good hectic. Afterwards there was a parade and fireworks and I saw as many family members as possible,” she told the Sun.

“I didn’t get to hit the dance floor as hard as I wanted to. I keep thinking it’s a big joke and someone’s going to pinch me soon.

“My feet still haven’t hit the floor but I’m excited to visit as many Rose centres as possible. I want to see as many as I can.”
