Rory McIlroy has spoken out for the first time since marrying Erica Stoll, which he has described as the “best weekend of my life”.
The 27-year-old golfer married 29-year-old Erica at Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo last month – which was attended by plenty of a-listers.
All eyes were on the wedding of the year, but Rory and his management team managed to keep the private details of their nuptials out of the spotlight.
Speaking about his wedding before the Players Championship in Florida, Rory said, “It was awesome, it was the best weekend of my life and hopefully of Erica’s as well.”

According to the Irish Sun, Rory showed off his new wedding band and said, “It was really cool. We tried to keep it as private as possible as it was between our friends and families and we didn’t want anything else.”
“It was a weekend of celebrations. We had a welcome reception on the Friday, the whole wedding day on the Saturday and a farewell brunch on Sunday.
“We spent three days with the people we cherish the most,” he added.
