Rory McIlroy DIDN’T actually get married on the day we all thought

Rory McIlroy went to extreme lengths to keep his nuptials private back in April – and now it looks like he managed to fool us all.

It was previously reported that Rory and Erica exchanged vows on Saturday, April 22nd – however, official documents have confirmed that the sports star and Erica actually said ‘I do’ on Friday, April 21st, at Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo.

The Irish Mail On Sunday have obtained the marriage certificate of Rory and Erica, and two fishermen have since told the publication that they had heard Stevie Wonder playing a set on the grounds of the castle for around 90 minutes that night.

Secret: Rory and Erica actually tied the knot on Friday, April 21st | VIPIRELAND.COM

One of the men, Thomas Ryan, said he could hear crowds of people cheering in between the songs on Friday night.

“He played a really long set. It ended just after 10pm,” he said.

The happy couple opted for a civil ceremony, and were married by female registrar Maura Monaghan.

Details of the wedding were kept strictly under wraps, as Rory had hundreds of security staff in place around the Cong area, and access beyond the outer limits of the castle was strictly by special security wrist band only.
