Ronan Keating: 'I can deal with horrible online abuse – but my family and girlfriend can't'

Ronan Keating has revealed how his family and girlfriend find it tough to deal with the horrific abuse he faces online.

The Boyzone star said he is still abused by “nasty trolls” over his “personal life”, which is likely to refer to his affair with a backing dancer.

And Ronan – who admits he has “done wrong” – said his kids and partner Storm Uechtritz can find it extremely hard to deal with.

He said: “Yes. I have done wrong, but my family and I have made it through the hard times. Fame has its good and bad sides and I’ve experienced the downside of fame.

“There are nasty trolls out there who attack my personal life, but it’s not just me they’re attacking, it’s my family and partner.

“I’ve got thick skin and can ignore it, but they can’t so easily.”

But Ronan would refuse to give up all the fame – and presumably the downsides that come with it – tomorrow if he could.

He told Notebook: “Not at all – that would be a very naïve thing to say. I just don’t need a number one in the charts or to be in the headlines to feel good about what I do.

“I had those years and I’m very grateful for them, but we have the One Directions and Ed Sheerans of the world now and that’s just how the wheel turns.

“There’s nothing worse than an artist trying to desperately hold on to that kind of limelight. Only age can teach you that you don’t need it.”
