Rob Lipsett responds to online rumours after RTÉ Investigates airs episode on the use of steroids

Rob Lipsett has responded to online rumours he was on RTÉ Investigates last night in an episode about the use of steroids in Ireland.

The broadcaster showed video footage of what they described as a “well-known social media fitness blogger” purchasing steroids in a supplement shop.

The footage did not reveal the man’s identification and also altered his voice, as the presenter described the situation: “Later, a well-known Social media fitness blogger enters the shop.”

“This man claims to be a natural athlete on his social media account, where he has thousands of followers. However, it soon emerged that his ripped physique is chemically induced,” the presenter continued.

As the man’s description of a “well-known fitness influencer” was given, some viewers suspected that Rob was the man in question.

The 26-year-old has now hit out at the rumours on Twitter, as he said: “Apparently @RTEOne did some steroid documentary and everyone thinks I was in it and my face was blurred out haha. If I was on steroids do you think I’d be so stupid to go and talk about it on TV”.

“They probably hired some knock off version of me,” he added.

While the unidentified man did not speak about using steroids on television, Rob later corrected himself and said: “Just got off a long haul flight so haven’t seen it, thought it was some guy getting interviewed or something, very confused lol. Anyways it wasn’t me but sure hey people are allowed believe whatever they want.”

The fitness influencer went on to joke about the claims: “Also if I’m on steroids I need to get a refund cause they didn’t work, been basically the same size for years.”

“Anyways cba watching the show, I’m sure it was interesting but I had nothing to do with it. Kinda want to meet the lad that everyone thinks is me though,” he added.
