RTÉ presenter Rick O’Shea has broken his silence, after it was confirmed that RTÉ Gold is being axed.
The station where Rick presents is just one of a number of stations that RTÉ has decided to axe amid cost-cutting measures.
Taking to Twitter, the 46-year-old said he has “no idea” when the end will come.
So anyway…
You may have read this morning about widespread changes at RTE including the closure of @RTEGold.
I’m not going to dwell on it now mainly because we have no idea when that end will come or where I’ll be moving to in RTE.https://t.co/2yH23xD53a

“Commiserations to all my fellow Gold presenters,” he wrote in a second tweet.
Commiserations to all my fellow Gold presenters – we do a necessary and utterly professional job here and I like to think we have kept some people sane in our current political troubled waters.
Love too to my friends @rte2xm, @RTEPulse, @RTEjr Radio and @RTERadio1Extra ❤️

It was announced this morning that RTÉ would axe RTÉ Gold among a list of radio stations.
It was also announced that the Public Service Broadcaster would cease printing the RTÉ Guide among a host of other cuts in a bid to cut costs by €60 million in the next three years.
