Popular TV3 star in line to host Toy Show

Alan Hughes could be in line to host TV3’s Toy Show this year.

The Ireland AM star, who recently tied the knot with his partner Karl Broderick, revealed that TV3 bosses are eyeing him up for the festive gig.

“I got a message from the head of Daytime at TV3 yesterday asking me if I was free at the end of November.

“There was talk of a Toy Show. I don’t know what the story is but I presume they must be looking for me to do it,” he told the Irish Sun.

The presenter previously fronted the Early Early Toy Show as part of Ireland AM, but hosting the main TV3 Toy Show would obviously be a much bigger gig for Alan.

Alan also admitted that TV3 have always made sure not to clash with, obvious rival, The Late Late Toy Show – as it’s “impossible to compete with”.

“The TV3 Toy Show never aired at the same time as the Late Late Show. We went on a bit earlier before the kids went to bed. It’s impossible to compete with The Late Late Toy Show because RTE’s budget is so huge.

“They have people working on that show months in advance, that’s why it’s one of the biggest shows on Irish TV,” he added.

The TV3 Toy Show was hosted by Brian McFadden and Karen Koster back in 2014, and fronted by Brian Ormond and Maria Walsh in 2015.
