The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall touched down in Ireland on Monday, where they will be carrying out official activities today and tomorrow.

Prince Charles and Camilla were met at the Glencree Centre in Wicklow by president Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina.

Glencree facilitates peace and reconciliation between groups involved in and affected by violent conflict in Ireland.

During their visit, they unveiled a plaque engraved with the poem ‘The Old Barracks at Glencree’, written in 2002 by Glencree Centre founder Una Higgins O’Malley, daughter of former Vice-President of the Irish Free State Kevin O’Higgins.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later attended a civic reception at Powersourt House and Gardens, where Prince Charles planted a tree.

The couple were welcomed by the Minister for Health Simon Harris.
