Niall Horan has revealed what made him “angry” while he was in One Direction.

In a revealing interview with The Telegraph, the Mullingar native spoke about his time in the iconic boyband, as well as his solo career.

Niall admitted that not being considered for lead vocals on songs made him frustrated while he was in the band.

Admitting he wasn’t the strongest singer in the group, Niall said: “It used to make me angry but, in hindsight, I was 17, so I was angry anyway.”

“As I grew up, and went through puberty, the voice got better, the guitar-playing got better. And when the songwriting kicked in, I started to have a bigger role.”

When the band split in 2016, Niall embarked on a solo career and released his debut solo album, Flicker.

Speaking about his relationship with Zayn Malik, who left the band before their final album, he said there’s no hard feelings, and he’d love to reunite the band.

“There’s no hard feelings. He’s doing his own thing and I don’t know what would happen with Zayn if the conversation came up to get the band back together.”

“I’m enjoying what I’m doing, but if one of the lads were to pick up the phone and say it’s time, I’d do it.”
