Carlow Rose Shauna Ray Lacey is the one to beat at this year’s Rose of Tralee.
The first ever mother to make it to the live finals of the much-loved pageant blew viewers away with her moving interview last night.
Revealing that both her parents were heroin addicts, Shauna told Daithi O’Se about how she made it her life’s mission to not become her parents, and take a different path.

Shauna’s mother, now a recovering addict, was in the audience supporting her through the live interview.
She then sang a chilling rendition of Aslan’s Crazy World, saying she used to sing it for her father.
Viewers all over the country were quick to support the young mother, saying she deserved to win the crown more than anyone else.
Carlow Rose Shauna is a stunning girl! She's real, warm, genuine, brave, honest & boy can she sing…….a perfect Rose!
Good girl Shauna, hope you win. And even if you don't, you're still a winner!! #RoseofTralee #roseoftralee carlow #RoseOfTralee2018— finsburypark91 (@finsburypark91) August 20, 2018

So many girls including me sat in classrooms with the #carlowrose & despite looking amazing especially the hairstyles & being such a hard worker, never would have imagined what Shauna may have been dealing with along with every other “teenage problem” #Roseoftralee Unbelievable.

Carlow Rose deserves the win too.. If a G.A.A player with about 3 degrees wins instead of a single mother who does charity work and was honest speaking about her partners having an addition, then I’ll rob her crown and drive to carlow with it #RoseofTralee
