Marty Whelan admits disappointment over losing Dancing With The Stars role

Marty Whelan has admitted that he’s disappointed he wasn’t chosen to host Dancing With The Stars.

The 60-year-old was one of may Irish stars that auditioned for the presenting role, including Vogue Williams and Brian Dowling.

However, the stars lost out to Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram.

“If I had a cat, I would have kicked it, but I have no cat,” Marty told the Herald.

“You say to yourself, you know what, it could have been great, but they decided to go a particular way and that’s fine.

“If they went with me, it would have been a different way. I would have loved to present it, yeah, absolutely.”

Despite losing out to Nicky and Amanda, the broadcaster thinks they’ll do a great job.

“They’ll be terrific – they’re very attractive and it will be lovely. It would have been a nice gig to do and I would have loved to have done it.”
