Mario Rosenstock reveals he has performed GIGS with Michael D. Higgins

Mario Rosenstock has revealed that he has done gigs in the past with Michael D. Higgins.

The comedian often impersonates the president of Ireland in his stand-up and on Today FM.

Speaking about his impersonations, he said, “Michael D Higgins is OK with it. I’ve met him several times but none as president, just before he became president.”

Explaining how they met, Mario said that he used to read poetry with Michael D.

“I’ve done gigs with him and everything. I’ve done public performances with him where I’ve read poetry as Michael D Higgins with Michael D Higgins,” he told the Irish Daily Mirror.

“And I gave him all the curse words. He’s huge fun and also a real entertainer.

“I had to bring him into a room one time – there were 400 people and he was like a real old-fashioned actor.”

Mario continued that not everyone are such big fans of his, including Boyzone star Ronan Keating.

“Miriam [O’Callaghan] maintains she’s OK. Ronan Keating wasn’t a fan. Michael Flatley I believe is not a fan at all.

“Keith Duffy likes it and he says ‘Howiya buddies’ in his adverts, he likes it so much.

“If he’s ever stuck for a laugh at a live gig he says it,” he added.
