Louis Walsh slams DWTS line-up: ‘RTE should call it Dancing With The Staff’

The Ireland's Got Talent judge has harsh words for the star's of RTÉ's DWTS

Louis Walsh has slammed RTE’s Dancing With The Stars line-up.

The music manager will act as chief judge on TV3’s Ireland’s Got Talent early next year – which is set to rival RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, Louis said, “There are no stars on Dancing With The Stars. The dancers are not even celebrities in their own homes.”

“It shouldn’t be called Dancing With The Stars, RTE should call it Dancing With The Staff.”

The line-up for DWTS was revealed last week, and it includes Marty Morrissey, Norah Casey, Erin McGregor, Bernard O’Shea, Deirdre O’Kane, Maia Dunphy, Jake Carter, Rob Heffernan, Anna Geary, Tomás O’Leary, and Aoife Walsh.

According to reports, RTÉ bosses are hoping some of the contestants’ famous siblings will appear in the audience on Sunday nights – like Erin’s UFC star brother Conor McGregor, and Jake’s country music star brother Nathan Carter.

However, Louis joked, “He (Conor) isn’t going turn up. If he didn’t turn up on ITV’s Jonathan Ross show, he’s hardly going to turn up on Dancing With The Stars.”

The incident he’s referring to was back in October, when Conor pulled out of his first major television appearance in the UK on the Jonathan Ross Show at the last minute.

Ireland’s Got Talent will air on Saturday nights on TV3, while Dancing With The Stars will air on Sunday nights on RTE – however, there will still be serious competition between the shows.

Louis said, “I’m sure both shows will do well but I’m sure Ireland’s Got Talent will do very well. It’s going to work as there’s never been anything done like this in Ireland before. We are a huge variety show.”
