Louis Walsh insists Irish acts won't get 'any special favours' on this year's X Factor

Irish music manager Louis Walsh has admitted he isn’t putting acts through this year – just because they are Irish.

Louis admitted that he had put through signers before mainly because they were from Ireland, but this year on the X Factor he is being very strict.

“Only if they are good enough are they going to get through. I am not going to put them through just because they are Dublin or from Ireland.”

“I can’t do that anymore. They have to have the star quality,” he said.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror Louis revealed that there are more than 10 Irish acts this year.

“There’s at least 10 different (Irish) acts through at the moment. There’s lots of girl singers, guys and different groups,” he said.

“We will have to see how they got in now in the arena in front of four or five thousand people, then we take the best through to boot camp.”

Change: Louis says Simon only wants the best this year

Louis added that show boss Simon Cowell is a lot tougher this year, and wants to find some true superstars, alongside judges Cheryl and Mel B.

“The competition is going to be much tougher this year. Simon is back and he is back with a vengeance. He’s really shaking things up.

“He wants proper stars to sell around the world like One Direction and all the people that came from the show when he was on it,” he said.
