Louis Walsh has confirmed his departure from The X Factor, after 13 years on the judging panel.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Louis and Sharon Osbourne’s future on the show was uncertain – and now Louis has revealed that he has indeed left the show.
In a statement, he said, “The show needs a change and I’m ready to leave.”
“I’m looking forward to another series of Ireland’s Got Talent, going back to my day job as a manager, writing my memoirs and seeing the world.”
The Mayo native appeared as a judge on every series of the programme, apart from one, since it first aired in 2004.
Amelia Brown, managing director of Thames TV, told BBC News, “Louis has been a huge part of The X Factor’s success since it launched and remains a good friend of the show.”
“His contribution cannot be overstated. We would like to thank him for all he has given to the show over the years and look forward to continuing to work with him in the future.”
The news comes after Nicole Scherzinger was axed from the judging panel as part of a massive shakeup.
