Liam Gallagher’s concert at a West Dublin airport has been given the green light – despite complaints from residents.

The former Oasis star is set to play in a hangar at Weston Airport in Lucan on October 29, and will be supported by the Strypes and punk band Touts.

It’s expected that 5,000 people will descend upon the airport for the concert, which will stretch across two days, with Annie Mac and 2manydjs performing the night before Liam.

According to the Herald, Olympia Productions applied to Dublin District Court for the licences to be in place from 6pm to midnight on October 28, and from 6pm to 11pm on October 29.

However, the event was said to be in doubt after a number of local residents attempted to pull the plug on the event, by citing concerns about traffic management, planning laws, crowd control and fire safety.

Despite their complaints, Judge Michael Coghlan granted the licences, and added stipulations to the plans for the gig, which is being organised by Festival Republic.

The Judge ruled that all flights coming in and out of the airport must cease at 3pm on both days, and insisted that all fuel tanks be removed from the airport.

Garda Inspector Liam Casey ensured that he would be on duty at the concert, along with four sergeants and 30 gardai, and that they would prevent revellers from entering local estates.
