Johnny Sexton and wife Laura Priestley welcome baby girl

Johnny Sexton and his wife, Laura Priestley, have welcomed their third child into the world.

The rugby player announced the news on his Instagram with an adorable picture of the newborn.

Johnny also revealed the name of the newest addition to the Sexton family.

“We are delighted to welcome baby Sophie into our family,” the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram.

Thank you for all the messages! Hard to put into words the last few days. First of all, I am incredibly proud of my wife Laura and we are delighted to welcome baby Sophie into our family. Thankfully both Laura and Sophie are doing great and I look forward to getting them both home to Amy and Luca……..when I didn’t think my week could get any better I was then asked to lead the team I grew up supporting, and dreaming to play for. This is a huge honour and I am immensely proud. It is a big ask to follow in the footsteps of a man like Isa but it is one that I am looking forward to.

This has been an exciting few days for the rugby star, as it was announced that Johnny will be taking over the role of Leinster captain yesterday.

The father-of-three was extremely grateful for all of the good news and wrote, “When I didn’t think my week could get any better I was then asked to lead the team I grew up supporting, and dreaming to play for.”

“This is a huge honour and I am immensely proud. It is a big ask to follow in the footsteps of a man like Isa but it is one that I am looking forward to.”

Johnny also ensured fans that Laura and baby Sophie are doing great, and said that he is very excited to bring the newborn home to introduce her to her older siblings.

Johnny and Laura already have two children together; Amy, aged two, and Luca, who is 4-years-old.
