Irish stars raise the style stakes at the Golden Globes

These three stars were flying the flag for Ireland in Hollywood

Irish stars dominated the red carpet at this years Golden Globe Awards.

Irish actors Ruth Negga, Colin Farrell and Caitriona Balfe were all nominated for awards on the night.

Ruth has been labelled as this year’s breakout star by many people, but she unfortunately didn’t come home with the award this year.

She was nominated in the Best Actress (Drama) category for her role in the film Loving.

She stunned in a silver metallic dress, and absolutely stole the show on the red carpet.

Caitriona Balfe was nominated in the Best Actress in a Drama TV Series category for her performance in Outlander, but was also unsuccessful.

The brunette still managed to turn heads on the red carpet with her strapless navy gown that featured a pop of red in the ruffles.

The dress had a gorgeous floral embellishment on the right side of the dress, that really took her look to the next level.

Colin Farrell was up for Best Actor in the Comedy or Musical category for his role in the dark comedy The Lobster, but he too was unlucky at this years awards.

The Dubliner took to the red carpet looking incredibly dapper in a Dolce and Gabbana tuxedo.

Adorably, he took his mother Rita as his date to the high profile event, and she matched with her son in a gorgeous black ensemble.
