Ireland AM star Ciara Doherty has explained why she keeps her baby girl’s image off social media.
The TV presenter welcomed her daughter back in February, but has kept her child’s life completely private since then.
“I have made the decision not to post any pictures of Renee online,” she said, revealing her daughter’s name.
“To be honest I would be more comfortable if she wasn’t in the public eye at all,” she told The Irish Mirror.
“I also have a very private husband who would have zero interest in being in the public eye and he is keen for her to have a private life.”
“I’d also be concerned that by the time she’d be three or four years old she would have this digital footprint that she knew nothing about.”
“And if she grows up to be more like her daddy than her mammy, then she’ll be uncomfortable with that, so the safest thing to do is to keep her offline altogether.”
She added that social media can but unnecessary pressure on parents.
“This image of perfect parenting on social media makes mums feel worse about themselves and that really resonated with me,” she said.
“If I look at perfect homes, gardens, holidays, perfect bodies – all the perfection you see on social media – I can feel jealous.”
