The Longford native is making waves internationally

Hollywood star Lena Dunham has shown her support for Irish girl Maura Higgins, who’s making waves in the Love Island villa.

This week, the Longford native gained even more fans when she dumped Tom Walker, after she found out that he had branded her “over the top” and “cringey” behind her back.

After the dramatic scenes aired, Girls creator Lena took to Twitter to praise Maura.

She tweeted: “For you folks in the UK who are binging on @LoveIsland like me, like Maura, I want a partner who can match me, not a coward who thinks I’m OTT, cringey and an attention seeker! Team Maura! #loveisland.”

Thankfully, Tom has since been booted off the show, and Maura now has the chance to couple up with a new boy in Casa Amor.

During last night’s episode, the brunette seemed particularly attracted to footballer Dennon Lewis, and in a teaser for the next episode – it looks the pair share a cheeky kiss.

Love Island continues on Sunday at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
