Holly Carpenter speaks out about her reaction to Dancing with the Stars elimination – ‘That’s my ‘trying not to cry’ face’

Holly Carpenter has spoken out about her reaction following her Dancing with the Stars elimination.

The 27-year-old was voted off the show last night and didn’t try to hide her emotions, as she looked visibly upset by the news.

The former Miss Ireland has now defended her reaction, after viewers pointed out her disappointed look online.

Speaking to Jennifer Greene on RTÉ 2FM this morning, Holly said: “I think when you watch these shows, if it’s The X Factor or anything, people always say ‘You know what? I’m just happy I took part.'”

“I was there and I wanted to bloody win. I would have loved to have been in the final,” she added.

“Why should I pretend to be happy? It’s a human emotion to be disappointed and I’m allowed to feel sad, it’s fine. If I’m going to shed a tear I’m not going to hide it.”

“I was disappointed and I wasn’t just being a sore loser, I was just disappointed to be leaving all the friends I made and leaving this journey so early,” Holly continued.

When asked if she watched the elimination back, the social media star responded: “I’ve seen the tweets. I’ve seen the clips. I don’t really know what people were expecting me to do, were they expecting me to jump up and down and smile and laugh? I don’t think that would have been very normal.”

“I think it was normal for me to look disappointed. But I have in many time in my life been criticised for having a resting ‘you know what’ face. That’s just my face, I can’t help it. In my head I was going ‘don’t cry, don’t cry.'”

“The way it looked! It looked like I was ready to kill someone, but that’s my ‘trying not to cry’ face,” the 27-year-old finished.
