The rumour mill went into overdrive last month when Niall Horan wished one of his “best friends” Hailee Steinfeld happy birthday on Instagram – and now Hailee has finally addressed the rumours.
“Happy birthday to the loveliest person on the planet and one of my best friends @haileesteinfeld,” Niall wrote on Instagram before adding, “Love ya hails”.
Fans quickly jumped to conclusions by suggesting that Niall and Hailee have the hots for one another, but sadly – that’s doesn’t seem to be the case.
When Us Weekly asked the 21-year-old about the romance rumours, she replied, “I feel so lucky that [my fans] care enough about me to know what I’m doing every second of every day, but I think that sometimes it’s hard for people in general to realize that there are boundaries to a person’s life and personal life.”
Hailee went on to say that she’s a “very private person” but also noted, “I do love that I have the opportunity to share with them what I’m comfortable with and they’re there to listen and support me.”
In fact, it looks like Hailee is already taken by another suitor, as it’s been reported that the actress is currently dating Cameron Smoller.
The pair made their first public appearance together in January 2017 when he joined Hailee at a W Magazine party to celebrate her Golden Globe nomination for film The Edge of Seventeen.
And back in November, it looked the pair were still very much an item as Cameron shared a cute snap of them at the beach.
Meanwhile, Niall was recently linked to Lily Collins and Olympia Valance.
