Graham Norton reveals he is going to quit his chat show and RETIRE

Graham Norton has revealed that he is set walk away from his chat show – so he can focus on a writing career.

The Cork native has been the host of The Graham Norton Show since 2007 but admitted he would like to retire soon.

The BBC star recently published his memoir The Life and Loves of a He Devil and admitted he could decide to focus more on writing full time in the future.

“I quite enjoy writing, but I’ll probably do this for another three years or so and see where we are and how we are doing,” Graham said.

The news will no doubt come as a disappointment for Graham’s legions of loyal fans – the 51-year-old picked up awards for Best Entertainment Personality and Best Entertainment Programme at the British Comedy Awards in December.

Graham couldn’t make the awards show but had a video shared on the night. EastEnders actor Danny Dyer handed Norton the award in the video and said, “I don’t know who he’s up against.”

The chat show star retorted, joking: “Nor do I, but I won, that’s the main thing.

New goals: Graham hopes to focus on his writing career in the future

“It’s lovely the show has won something, it’s all the people that work on the show … obviously I’m going to keep this but it’s about the team. As I say, I will take this for them.”

Fellow chat show host Jonathan Ross took issue with Graham’s dismissal of the other nominee’s and branded him a d**k.
