The comedy series has gone down a hit with viewers

Nadine Coyle has revealed that she could be set to star in the second series of Derry Girls.

The Girls Aloud star, who hails from Derry, has said that she’s a big fan of the Channel 4 show, which was created by writer Lisa McGee.

The show, which is set in 1990s Derry during the Troubles, premiered earlier this month, and has gone down a hit with viewers.

When asked if she’d like a role in the next series, Nadine told the Irish Daily Star, “Yes I’m going to speak to the writer about that. I’m going to call Lisa today actually, we’re sorting something out for the next series.”

“It’s based on the same school I went to, the same Catholic school, so we have loads of similar experiences. I loved the first series so I’d love to do something for the second,” she added.

Star of the show Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare in the hit series, previously revealed that she tackled the Derry accent by watching videos of Nadine on YouTube.

For now, Nadine is gearing up for the release of her latest single Girls on Fire, and has teased that she’ll announce tour dates soon.
