Finally! Irish rugby stars open their dream Dublin pub The Bridge 1859 today

Today is the day that rugby stars Jamie Heaslip, Rob and Dave Kearney and Sean O’Brien open their new pub in Ballsbridge, Dublin.

The Irish players who teamed up with The Grafton Lounge’s Noel Anderson have opened The Bridge 1859 which was formerly Bellamy’s.

The pub which cost the lads €1.35million is a stones throw away from Ireland’s national rugby ground, the Aviva stadium.

Yesterday they showed off the place to their close friends and family – which includes their baby pictures above the bar.

Proud-owners: The lads are set to open their new pub

And the sports stars officially opened their doors this morning to the public – with pals set to rally round tonight to toast to the pub’s success.

Co-owner of the pub Jamie Heaslip recently revealed that he had “always been interested in owning a pub and now that is has become a reality, I can’t wait to get behind the bar and pull a few pints!”

“I’m looking forward to chatting with customers and hearing their thoughts on the place. It has been a pleasure of working with the group of lads including Noel – the best in the business.”

“We also wanted a name that was easy to roll off the tongue standing in the RDS or the Aviva – let’s go to The Bridge for one!”

The Bridge 1859 has been totally redesigned with a new interior – and importantly, a much longer bar counter has been built.

The lads have even hired a whole new team of bar and waiting staff ahead of todays launch.

Previously Jamie revealed that he loved turning into interior designer for their new Dublin pub
