Fifth celebrity eliminated from DWTS

The eighth week of Dancing With The Stars saw Marty Morrissey eliminated.

The Marty Party came to a close after his rumba to The Lady In Red by Chris de Burgh landed him in the dance off.

He had landed at the bottom of the leaderboard most weeks with his partner Ksenia Zsikhotska but what he lacked in technical ability he made up for in showmanship always leaving the crowd roaring.

The 59-year-old was the oldest competitor on the show and has been championing adult learning on and off the dancefloor.

His dance off performance received a standing ovation.

He compared his final dance against Alannah to being a Junior B GAA team facing the Dublin team in the Senior Finals.

“Anytime you dance with Ksenia is a wonderful time.”

After his first performance this evening Marty spoke about how much he was enjoying being on the show!

“I’m having the best eight weeks of my life…it’s just been the best experience ever.”

“These hips haven’t moved for ten years!”

Brian had said that Marty was at his best when standing still.

“When you stand still you have an air about you… in fact I think you’re probably one of the best standing still dancer I’ve ever seen.”

All three judges voted to bring Alannah and Vitali through to ninth week of the show.

Marty revealed he will be heading off on holidays now that he’s finished on the show but thanked the people of Ireland for their support.

Commenting on whether he’d be keeping up dancing after the show he remarked “I most certainly am!”

Norah Casey, Tomás O’Leary, Maia Dunphy and Bernard O’Shea have already been eliminated from the show.

The stars from the show are heading to the MV Cill Airne, a boat on the quays, for the last Marty Party to celebrate Rob Heffernan’s 40th birthday.

We chatted to him before before he went on board.
