Fair City is set to welcome it’s very first transgender character.

Actor Jack Murphy will take on the role of Ryan Donnelly and will appear on the small screen towards the end of September, according to Independent.ie.

This year has seen a rise in viewership in the RTÉ soap, with a lot of the attention coming from the ‘Katy kidnapping’ storyline.

RTE launched their new season just this week, and announced some brand new shows from favourites Baz Ashmawy and Vogue Williams.

Baz is back with a one-off documentary about gambling addiction, and Vogue will be hosting a 3-part documentary.

Her docs are about anxiety, fertility and sperm donation and sugar babies.
