Fair City is heading to Scotland

Scottish network STV is set to acquire 400 episodes of Fair City to air on its new STV2 channel.

The channel will launch on the 24th of April, and Fair City will be one of the centrepiece dramas. In order to familiarise Scottish audiences with the show there will be a 30-minute documentary about the series.

STV Deputy Director of Channels Elizabeth Partyka said, “STV2 will feature a great mix of entertainment, news, drama and local events, and Fair City will be a key part of this distinct and diverse schedule.”

STV2 is also due to air movies, English and foreign language drama, and crime documentaries.

It will be made available in the UK via Freeview, Sky and Virgin, and will be available on the STV Player catch-up service.

Fair City is the most watched drama in Ireland, with average viewing figures of 550,000. It has been on the air continuously since 1989.
