Rob Kenny has revealed he is heart broken, after splitting with his long time boyfriend Fabio Bernardo.
The social media star wanted to keep the break up under wraps, admitting he has been extremely stressed after the split.
Speaking to Goss.ie, Rob said the the pair called it quits last month.
“I haven’t actually spoken about this on social media yet, as I have been using this time to deal with it myself, but Fabio and I separated as a couple two weeks ago,” he said.
“We were together for over 3 years and he has been a huge part of my life, so this is really hard for me to deal with and speak about.”
“We had been having a long-distance relationship between Barcelona and Dublin for a year now.
“As heart breaking as it is, we came to the realisation that my life is in Dublin and his is in Barcelona and that will never change,” he added.
“Fabio and I have had an incredible relationship together and I am so thankful for everything he has brought to my life.”
Rob also admitted he started smoking again, after the couple broke up for good.
Rumours on social media swirled that he had been spotted smoking, despite currently in a campaign with Boots called ‘Stop For Good’.
While dealing with the painful split, Rob and good friend Holly Carpenter went to Barcelona to get away from it all, and he caved and smoked.
Admitting in a moment of weakness he gave in to his old habit, Rob said he “holds his hands up” for being wrong to smoke during the campaign, especially after staying off cigarettes for nearly 10 weeks.
“People may have seen that I recently made the decision to quit smoking,” he said.
“For anyone who has ever been a smoker I’m sure they will understand that giving up cigarettes is extremely difficult.
“I brought my followers on this journey with me, shared my highs and lows, all in the hopes that it might inspire others to join me and quit smoking too.
“I was so happy how far I had come off the cigarettes,” he explained.
“After almost 10 weeks cigarette free, the break up took its toll on me and I fell off the wagon,” he admitted.
“My followers have been so supportive throughout this journey and it has been incredible to read so many messages from others who were quitting smoking with me, so honestly I couldn’t bear the thought of letting them down, while also not being ready to explain why I caved.
“I hold my hands up and admit I should have been more honest about it,” he added.
