Miriam O’Callaghan is a patron for the LauraLynn Hospice, Ireland’s only children’s hospice, and last night she MC’d their #BeAHero Ball.

She spoke exclusively to Goss.ie before the event and discussed her profound respect for Vicky Phelan, the woman who brought the Cervical Check scandal to light.

“It was a privilege,” the mother-of-eight said regards meeting Vicky.

“I went down to Limerick last week and interviewed her. And now obviously a lot of other people are being very brave and coming out but there’s something very courageous about the first person who comes out, doesn’t sign a confidentiality agreement and that was Vicky.”

“She was just a joy to be with and I always felt I was just in the presence of this greatness and everyone else I was working with did too.” She added, “And she’s great fun!”
