Marty Morrissey has been eliminated from Dancing With The Stars after a dance off against Alannah Beirne.
The 59-year old’s rumba, to The Lady In Red by Chris de Burgh, landed him in a dance off from which he didn’t emerge victorious.
Judges Brian, Lorraine and Julian all voted to keep Alannah and Vitali in the competition but were full of praise for the Clare man.
Giving himself some credit Marty remarked that he survived until week 8 of 12 in the show.
“It’s kind of a B+ if you were back in my school days.”
Having become very active on social media during the competition we asked if he was setting his sights on the 2019 Social Media Star Gossie.
Both himself and his dance partner Ksenia Zsikhotska replied, “Never say never!”
He went on to thank the his social media followers.
“The people on Twitter and Instagram have been outstanding and I mean that sincerely because they’ve been so supportive and so positive…”
What can I say… it’s been an amazing 4 months. I completely went out of my comfort zone and took on a challenge I never thought was possible. I can’t thank you enough for all your support, without you , I wouldn’t have been able to do this. I loved every minute of it. #DWTSIrl

The GAA commentator told Goss about his plans for the next few weeks.
“I filmed a whole program for Nationwide in Australia when I was there so I want to edit that.”
“Then after that I will disappear into the sunset for three or four weeks.”
Expect to see a bronzed Marty back pitchside in time for the summer.
