Mark O’Rowe chatted exclusively to Goss.ie about his concerns casting Cillian Murphy in his new movie The Delinquent Season.
The role sees Cillian play a middle-class husband who becomes involved in an extramarital affair.
Mark O’Rowe was delighted that Cillian came on board with the project but had concerns about his believability in the role.
He said, “Cillian was kind of the lynchpin in a way. When he agreed to do it it’s not that hard to get other actors to say yes.”
“He had said it was the character he’d be playing who is closest to who he is in real life so he would kind of have to reveal a little bit of himself.”
“The problem I had was he is so extraordinary looking. Would people believe him believe him as a normal guy? Do you know what I mean? In a normal marriage.”
“No, but he’s so good I don’t think I had any worries.”
The Delinquent Season closed the Audi Dublin International Film Festival and is out in cinemas nationwide today.
