Lucy Kennedy has revealed that the Pope wants Evelyn Williams to sing at the papal visit, nd she’s trying to organise it.
The leader of the Catholic Church will visit Ireland in August and Evelyn Williams is one of the names in the hat to headline his events here.
The 82-year-old won over the hearts of the nation when she appeared on Ireland’s Got Talent earlier this year and sang Send In The Clowns beautifully.
500,000 people are expected to attend the Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, August 26th, making it a significantly larger crowd than Evelyn performed to in The Helix during the hit TV3 series.
Presenting Radio Nova’s breakfast show alongside Colm Hayes today, Lucy tried to ring Evelyn six times to organise the performance but alas, the octogenarian didn’t answer her phone.
“Apparently the Pope wants her to sing for him,” Lucy exclaimed.
“I said to my producers, ‘Phone her I know her!'” before concluding, “She needs to get on it. She’s going to miss these gigs!”
