The TV3 presenter has commended the women brave enough to come forward

TV3 star Lisa Cannon has spoken out about the Harvey Weinstein scandal, branding his actions as “deplorable” and “atrocious”.

Over the past few weeks, over 40 women have come forward accusing Hollywood producer Harvey of sexual harassment, assault and misconduct.

And Lisa, who has been in the industry for over ten years, has revealed that she has “been very lucky” as “nothing like that has ever happened” to her.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the screening of Good Behaviour with be3 and Virgin TV on Demand, Lisa said, “It’s absolutely deplorable.”

“It’s atrocious of everything that happened over there, but it’s brilliant that women have been brave enough and courageous enough to come forward and have a voice to be able to talk about it.

“So, its going to be a different Hollywood definitely.”

The former Xposé presenter is now fronting her own show, Box Office, on TV3.

Now on its second season, it’s off to a great start, with guests including Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, to name a few.

Speaking about the show, the presenter said, “We’ll be reviewing some of the massive massive movies that are out.
We do all of the box office reports.”

“We incorporate so many different elements from the new releases to indie films and all the box sets they’re out on.”

Lisa spilled that some “massive stars” will feature on the show for season two, such as Jeff Goldblum from Thor and Conor McGregor.

“I really want everyone to watch our Halloween Special which is going out on Thursday.
It’s got Rhianna Dhillon in there who is a BBC film critic, we flew her over.
”

The TV3 star also spoke about how she felt moving from co-presenting on Xposé and WeekendAM, to presenting alone.

“I like it. I mean I’ve always done radio on my own and I’ve also had TV programmes where I’m solo aswell.

“It’s just a different shift. It’s just a different change.
I see everyone all of the time from the girls to Anna Daly because we bump in to each other and we’re still in the same building.”

“I’ve been with TV3 over ten years,” which means it’s inevitable that Lisa has had a few memorable interviews.

“My Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan interview from my very first season of box office when we went to the Cannes film Festival.”

“That was brilliant because that was kind of the first start of the season and we got to meet them and speak to them about Killing of a Sacred Deer.”

Lisa hopes to use her show in order to promote the Irish market.

“The Killing of a Sacred Deer is a brilliant Irish movie distributed by Element Pictures which is an Irish company with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, people like that behind it – you’re kind of championing Irish film and that’s so important.”

“Barry Keoghan is now a friend of the show, we’ve interviewed him at the BFI London film festival, we’ve interviewed him at Cannes, we’ve interviewed him for Dunkirk and he’s definitely one to watch”.

After doing a masters of Film in Trinity College, Lisa explains that it’s all down to the films themselves and her genuine interest in TV to help create a quality show.

“I think its the knowledge of the directors and the films themselves that help me kind of engage with the directors or actors that I’m interviewing but ultimately it depends on what your hobbies are anyway”.

“I’d probably go to the cinema anyway and watch a lot of TV anyway”.
