EXCLUSIVE! Jenny Greene admits 2fm listeners ‘played a big part’ in her return to the station

She's back!

Jenny Greene has admitted that 2fm listeners “played a big part” in her return to the station.

Back in March, the DJ announced her shock departure from RTÉ 2fm, and the news did NOT sit well with listeners.

After bosses received serious backlash online, RTE announced her triumphant return earlier this month – and now she’ll be hosting her very own Drivetime show from 3pm every weekday.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the new schedule launch, Jenny said: “It’s sort of surreal, I definitely didn’t think I’d be here. But i’m so glad I am.”

“I think I would have found today very hard seeing it online and not being a part of it, so while it was very unexpected, it’s amazing to be back.”

When asked about the incredible reaction to her departure, Jenny said: “I think it was very kind. It probably wasn’t fully warranted but it was really nice to see it. It felt kind of like a living eulogy when I was reading it.”

“I’m so grateful because I really feel that that definitely played a big part in me coming back, so thank you, I owe a lot of people pints,” she laughed.

As for her former co-host Nicky Byrne, Jenny said they still chat all the time, but admitted that she misses him a lot.

She said: “Obviously we went up to Belfast on Saturday night to see him [and Westlife perform], and it was great to see Georgina and the kids, and his brother and sister and his mum and all that.”

“You know, it’s still very much there, and I think it always will be and I miss not seeing him everyday. I’ll just have to go to all the gigs now, I’ll have to become one of the stalkers,” she joked.
