EXCLUSIVE Janet Devlin interview: 'I don't care if I fall in love with a man or woman'

X Factor star Janet Devlin doesn’t care whether she falls in love with a man or a woman, after admitting she is bisexual.

The Tyrone songstress said she was shocked to see the backlash, after telling fans on ask.fm that she was actually bisexual.

“To be honest there was quite a lot of backlash from it. It’s just like ‘so what?’. I got quite a lot of bad press from it, it didn’t make sense to me at all,” she told Goss.ie.

The flame-haired singer, who is about to release her debut album, said she doesn’t care who she falls for.

“I don’t really believe in genders, I just think you fall in love with someone, that’s what’s important,” she said.

“All I care about is that I’m going to fall in love. I don’t care about their religion or gender or anything. It’s going to happen, so that doesn’t bother me.

But right now the Irish singer is completely single – and finds it horrible.

“I’m still single it’s horrible. I’ve been single now for like two years,” she said. “But everything is mental right now, so I don’t have time for anyone, it would be quite hard.”

Meanwhile Janet opened up about her debut self-titled album.

“I’m more of a poet almost, I love writing poetry, I love reading poetry. I think that’s more important to me… getting my message across in just three minutes.”

“There’s quite a few tear jerkers but a few upbeat ones – which was hard for me, that’s not normally my style, but it’s great to perform the tracks and see the audience get involved.”
