EXCLUSIVE! Irish designer Don O’Neill opens up about Meghan Markle wearing his creation on her royal trip to Tonga

Irish designer, Don O’Neill, has opened up about Meghan Markle wearing his creation on her royal trip to Tonga.

The Duchess stepped out in Don’s gorgeous design during the week, as she attended a reception and dinner with Prince Harry and the royal family of Tonga.

The 52-year-old has now opened up about the amazing experience, as he exclusively told Goss.ie that it has been “utterly surreal.”

Speaking of the beautiful Ivory Crepe Gown from his New York-based company, THEIA, Don said: “Having worked so hard on the dress to get it right and made in time so that it would pleas Her Royal Highness and then the wait…not know for certain when she would wear it.”

“Then we head about a cut back on the schedule of events, then waking up this morning to an explosion of media!” he told us, still in shock over the amazing news.

The designer’s flawless dress has attracted a huge amount of attention across the world, as Don continued: “Every news channel in America is talking about Meghan Markle in her gorgeous THEIA gown.”

It has clearly been a crazy 24 hours for the Kerry-born designer, as he told us of the amount of messages of congratulations he has been receiving.

“Notifications from Ireland are coming so fast, I couldn’t use my phone!! Nor could I see it through tears of joy! I still can’t believe it.”

This isn’t Don’s first time dressing a huge celebrity though, as he has also designed gowns for Oprah Winfrey and Carrie Underwood for the biggest award shows in the world.
