EXCLUSIVE! Grace Mongey discusses the recent controversy surrounding bloggers

Grace Mongey, known as FacesByGrace, was joined by some of her fellow VIP Style Awards nominees in the Marker Hotel today, where we caught up with her.

Decked out in River Island, she stunned in a gorgeous pink suit which she paired with a blue bejeweled bag and barely there heels.

Grace chatted openly about the recent blogger controversy that stormed the industry in Ireland.

“I feel like our followers are just a bit more aware of what’s going on.”

“I think people need to rein it in a little bit with what they’re doing.”

“I think photo-shopping a nice landscape or pictures and stuff like that is lovely, like it enhances a picture, but if you’re manipulating yourself it’s not really great.”

Asked if she agreed with Retro Flame’s thoughts on Irish bloggers trying to show their real life online, compared to American bloggers showing more perfectly curated versions of themselves, Grace attributed her following to her honesty.

“I feel like with me I always show the realer side and that’s when I saw my blog start to grow and my YouTube and everything – When I just kind of was me, wasn’t showing the perfect side of things just waking up in the morning, hair in a bun no make up on.”

“People can just relate to that and I think people want to see what you’re doing.”

“They just want a more in depth look at your life.”

She also divulged her go-to summer trends this year would be pastel colours and floral prints.

“I love the baby colours and lemon… That’s what my wardrobe is going to look like this summer. Really florally as well!”

When asked if she had any experiences similar to the White Moose Cafe‘s bloggergate she remarked on how enjoyable her collaborations with brands have been so far.

“I get on so well with the brands I work with.”

“We have a really good relationship and a lot of the brands I work with, it forms in to more of a friendship then at the end. So it’s great yeah.”

The mum-of-one is doing a masterclass a month and plans to host these all over the country.

“I’m trying to go and see my followers everywhere around the country.”
