EXCLUSIVE: Facts contributor Tom Moran premieres his own original play ‘Lyrics’

A few weeks ago we chatted to some of our favourite Facts. stars as the popular YouTube channel disbanded, they promised we wouldn’t be without them for long and they weren’t lying.

Tom Moran, one of the contributors we spoke to has written a play, which he also stars in called Lyrics.

Director Romana Testasecca described the play to Goss.ie as “charming, romantic and uplifting.”

Tom Moran chatted exclusively to Goss.ie about the story he created.

“I was trying to write a play about two people bonding over the worst things in their life. And what it means to be seen within that. While also trying to be funny. Except all at the same time.”

The play sees the topics of heartbreak and death being discussed in such a way that tears and laughter are provoked in equal measure.

The brand new play features original songs and is set in Dublin after an open mic night.

The darkly comic performance sees an offbeat romance blossom between Danielle Galligan & Tom Moran as their characters’ staccato speech swings hurriedly between humour and hardship.

The moving piece of theatre delves deep in to topics generally not discussed and will leave you with a new-found fear of traffic light buttons.

The play sold out it’s opening night in the cosy Theatre Upstairs above Lanigans pub on Eden Quay, a feat it is sure to repeat many nights of it’s short run, from the 4th to 14th of April.

Shows for the world premiere of Lyrics are on from Monday to Saturday at 7PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 1PM too.

Tickets are available from Squad productions at www.theatreupstairs.ie/lyrics starting at €12.50.
