EXCLUSIVE! Daithí Ó Sé reveals the Rose of Tralee is 'the best job ever'

Daithí Ó Sé has revealed that being the host of the Rose of Tralee is the best job ever.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the launch of the 56th annual festival, the Kerryman explained why it is the greatest role.

“It’s the only job in the world, it’s the best job ever, ever. Even for a married man it’s brilliant because you are up there, you have lovely ladies next to you and they can’t say nothing to you because you are being paid for it,” he said.

Each year of the festival has had something funny and unexpected happen and the Today Show presenter said this year will be no different.

“We always do something different every year so I’m sure something will happen. We did an ice bucket challenge last year which was good fun, I ruined a lovely tux and we’d a proposal the year before.”

“I’ve a few spies working on the bus listening to stories, I might give a few to Goss.ie,” he added.

The 39-year-old also explained that while he is looking forward to the Rose of Tralee festival this year the finalists are keeping him on his toes.

“Great fun, great stories and great party pieces this year and we’ve a bunch that are really up for it, they will cause me a lot of problems on TV I think,” he laughed.

The father-of-one also revealed that he isn’t nervous of what the girls might say live on TV.

“Not at all, bring it on, that’s what I tell them all,” he added.

The 56th Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th from 8pm on RTÉ One.
