EXCLUSIVE! Andy Quirke discusses ‘Damo & Ivor The Movie’ and how his new character was received by the travelling community

Damo And Ivor The Movie premiered in the Odeon Point Village as part of the Audi Dublin International Film Festival.

We caught up with Andy Quirke, the man behind some of Ireland’s favourite satirical characters, to chat about getting in to character and squeezing all the craic in to the movie’s twenty day shooting schedule.

The story, had until now, told the tale of two identical twin brothers separated not long after birth but their silver screen debut sees them gain a brother from the travelling community.

John Connors spoke passionately at the IFTAs this year about the discrimination he faces as a traveler in the acting world and Andy believes he’ll enjoy John Joe.

“I think he’ll have great craic with it.”

Asked if the travelling community have enjoyed the addition of John Joe to the cast Andy speaks about the praise the character has received so far from the travelers involved in the film.

“There’s a lot of travelers in the movie. They really enjoyed it and they really enjoyed the character John Joe.”

“It’s just a bit of fun you know.”

Damo And Ivor The Movie is in cinemas nationwide from March 16th.
