Eoghan McDermott SLAMS Michael O'Doherty in furious open letter

Eoghan McDermott has written a scathing open letter to magazine publisher Michael O’Doherty – after the journalist wrote a column slamming the presenter.

The tabloid writer slated the RTE star for his presenting style and blasted his friendship with fellow TV host Laura Whitmore.

Michael also accused Eoghan of being an attention-seeker, and said Laura isn’t even famous, prompting The Voice presenter to pen an open letter to the writer.

“The day I need attention from anybody like you is the day Ireland renounces Tayto,” Eoghan wrote.

“I’ve no problem with you not liking my presenting style at all. An opinion to which, like free water, you are perfectly entitled.”

“I thought you were offensively awful on Fade Street and Total Xposure, so fair’s fair.”

Eoghan also labelled Michael as a coward, recalling an incident when the pair met in a Dublin bar and the publisher apologised for criticising him in a previous article.

“I do recall bumping into you in a bar last year where we had a very amicable chat to be fair, and I mentioned another snide article you had written.”

“What did you do then Michael? Don’t lie , we have two witnesses. You…APOLOGISED! Not even the balls to stand behind your own words like a man.”

“At least when we meet, I will have the decency, the consistency and the spine to call you to your face what I’m calling you here. A gobsh**e of the highest order.”

In an article in the Herald Michael had claimed Eoghan didn’t have a brain.

“With his slightly hysterical presenting style, which comes across as a rather laboured attempt to be ‘edgy’.

“And his fondness for disclosing the minutiae of his life on social media, Eoghan may have come across as just another attention-seeker,” he added.

Replying to Eoghan’s letter, Laura wrote: “Gobsh**e is being nice. Thankfully karma is a wonderful thing.”
