Donal Skehan to cook up a storm in America as he plans the big move

Donal Skehan is planning a move to America to further his cooking career.

The TV chef and his wife Sofie have been spending a lot of time in LA recently and debating their next step.

“We’re at a bit of a crossroads in terms of what we’re doing next in Ireland. Ireland will always be my base for what I do. We’re talking about America at the moment,” he said. 

“If we go over to LA it’ll be more about embracing the online and digital side of things rather than TV. There is a huge platform in the States now. It’s eye-opening stuff. There is so much out there and we’re in the right space for it now,” he told the Irish Mirror. 

In the meantime, the Howth native is keeping busy working on the Food Network in the UK and preparing for another series of the Kitchen Hero on RTÉ.

The newlywed also revealed that pressure is being put on him and his wife to have children but that isn’t the top of the agenda just yet.

“We’re already getting people asking us about starting a family. We always said we want kids, but I don’t know at what stage,” he added.

Donal married his lonterm love Sofie Larsson last June in a lavish ceremony in Lisnavagh House in Co Carlow.
