She’s known for her hilarious sketches and brilliant blogger take offs – but this weekend Doireann Garrihy is using her platform for something very important.
The SPIN 103.8 presenter took to her Instagram Stories to tell followers about one of her best friends Georgie Crawford, who helped her get her job in SPIN.
Explaining that she fell pregnant this year, Doireann went on to explain that while breast feeding her daughter Pia, Georgia noticed a lump – and on found out she has breast cancer.
“You might be like this is not your story to tell,” Doireann said.
“She made a decision a few weeks ago where she was just basically like ‘I don’t want this to be my story, but this is my story so I’m going to spread the word and raise awareness as much as I can.
“Georgie starts chemo tomorrow,” Doireann said fighting back tears.
“I’m not sure how much she’s going to document, but give her a follow,” Doireann added, writing Georgie’s Instagram handle ‘@georgie.crawford.”
Georgie has been very honestly sharing her story on her own Instagram, where she has been detailing freezing her eggs ahead of chemotherapy.
