Clodagh McKenna stops herself going crazy doing YOGA sessions with Sile Seoige

TV cook Clodagh McKenna has told how yoga sessions with Sile Seoige have stopped her from going crazy.

The celebrity chef decided she wanted to keep her mental health in check after the devastating death of her father.

And the 38-year-old also meditates regularly – believing the chanting is helping to relax her.

“It’s a personal thing and I think it doesn’t matter what faith you have or whatever it is you believe in,” she said.

“It works for me that I believe in something and whether it’s Buddism or Catholicism, I believe it’s important that you have a place where you go regularly, where you don’t have to talk.

“For me, when I’m praying, it’s a kind of chanting from within. Because I know them off by heart, I’m not really thinking about what I’m saying, so it’s a chant.

“I feel that everyone wakes up in the morning with good days and bad days but we do have the control to change how we feel about the day.

“I don’t know when the realisation ever came to me, maybe from reading about other people in business and how they manage their day and manage stress.

Pal: Sile has helped Clodagh deal with stress

“I have learned to be really good at switching off. I can go home after a day’s work, go out for dinner and within 15 minutes I’m completely switched off.

“I am really lucky but I definitely work on it, and my girlfriends would be really into that kind of stuff.

“Sile Seoige is one of my best friends and she’s really into yoga and has been a great influence on me and helping me with that stuff.”

Speaking to Irish Country Magazine, Clodagh added that ensuring she’s happy has now became her main priority in life – not food.
