Cillian Murphy to star as grieving father in new play

The Peaky Blinders star will be performing in the play in Galway next year

Cillian Murphy is to star in new Enda Walsh directed play ‘Grief Is A Thing With Feathers’.

The Peaky Blinders actor is currently working on the fourth season of the BBC series.

He previously worked with Enda Walsh on Ballyturk, Misterman and Disco Pigs.

‘Grief Is A Thing With Feathers’ is based on the award winning novel by Max Porter, which is a story about love, loss and living.

“Grief is the Thing with Feathers truly broke my heart when I first read it and it will be a privilege to bring it to life on stage in Ireland. Complicité’s work on stage has inspired me for many years, and it is always a joy to get in a room with my most trusted collaborator and friend Enda Walsh,” Cillian told the Independent.ie.

The director of the play added, “It’s a real honour to be asked to bring Max Porter’s singular and wonderful book, Grief Is the Thing with Feathers, to the stage by Complicité – a great company whose work always inspires.”

“Myself and my collaborators will be reunited with our friend Cillian Murphy who worked with us on Misterman and Ballyturk. It’s thrilling to be premièring this new work in Ireland next spring.”

The world premiere will take place at the Black Box Theatre, Galway on March 20. 2018 at 8pm.The play will then move to the O’Reilly Theatre, Dublin from March 28 to April 5.

Tickets on sale Friday 8 December at 2pm.
